About

About

My name is Chris McLeod. I am a 57-year-old family man, tech enthusiast, and artist from Colorado who has decided to use what little status and privilege I have in the world to talk about some of the issues facing our country in 2025.

Due to my hard-line position against using any social media or SEO, I am fully aware that this site is likely only to be read by family and friends, and even then, not regularly. Luckily, I also don’t believe in collecting data from my reader(s), so I will never know how many legit (non-crawler/hacker) visitors this site has. So, in short, I won’t get my feelings hurt if you close the window and never come back.

Just so there are no misconceptions, I consider myself a feminist, an LGBTQ ally, non-racist (as much as I can be, having been raised white in 20th-century America), and I am a lifelong registered Democrat. You have been warned. That said, I am not an apologist for the left and find many faults in the Democratic (not ‘Democrat’, what are you, 10?) party, both past and present, and will call them out as well.

I think the only way we get out of our current mess is to find common ground between the ‘left’ and ‘right’ and work to bring back the radical idea that we don’t have to agree on everything to work together for a better country. I hope like-minded people choose to read along and participate, but I will keep posting either way if only for my mental health.

Administrative items:

1. Comments are disabled, and no separate comment form exists.

  • As much as I would love to have a vibrant comment section, I don’t have the time or desire to moderate what will mostly be spam or hate.
    • If you don’t like what you read here, and it makes you mad, and you aren’t open to other thoughts and ideas, feel free to move along. There are lots of other people who are also ‘wrong‘ on the internet, and they have comments enabled.
    • If you are excited about something you read here, take action by passing along a link or contributing to a worthy cause related to the post—every little bit matters.

2. This is not the final form of the site (but some of it will stay).

  • I know it’s not ideal (ok, it sucks) but I don’t have time right now to track down a new theme or customize something. It’s on my list, but based on my track record, it might never happen. Please focus on the writing and ignore the infinite blandness of a free WordPress theme. Embrace the suck.
  • I am old, and one of the signs of that is that I like black text on a white background. I realize this may not be ideal for all, especially on a phone screen that is overly bright by default. If you are a dark mode purest and don’t have it installed yet, I recommend the Dark Reader extension, which is available for Firefox and Chromium browsers.

3. I use a lot of links.

  • This comes from being around blogs from the beginning when this was much more common.
  • I try to make them pertinent by adding context or clarifying meaning. You can use them or not, but if you do, you might learn something and potentially have a better understanding of what I am saying.
